The Hay Plains

I thought I would share this picture with you. This is what we saw as we crossed the border in SA after many hours driving along the flat, flat, long, flat, dry, flat Hay Plains!

Twas the night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the house…..
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse….

Except over at "Hugs from Helen" there is a beautiful giveaway, of a christmas 7 part block of the month.

Hop over and have a look!

I've been away for a holiday!

Gee, it's been awhile since my last lot of blogging. We had a family holiday to Adelaide! What a wonderful town, so pretty, and clean. We went and watch the BMX World Champs! The racing was fast and furious!

The best thing about the trip was spending the day with the girls from Adelaide, that are in the craft group. I don't often get girly days, so this was splended! We all chat like we would if we meet every week!

A big thank you to Mrs Moo for opening her house to us all, I hope to see everyone in January!

Paper Bag Swap - Missymack

Missymack is currently running a paperbag swap which finishes on the 31st May. I am nearly finished my item and will hopefully finish & post it off next week.

Pop over to her blog, and check it out!

Here is a sneak peak at what I am making.

Breast of Friends

These are 2 of my blocks, I have converted a lot of them to stitchery as I can not do applicate on the run. I hope you like them!

New Project - Dr Seuss

This is my new project, it's a Dr Seuss quilt for my youngest son's bedroom.

(Dr Seuss got him into and improved his reading).

Mum is going to paint some canvases to match the quilt I am making.

It will be bright and colourful when finish, but for now have to get about 15 stitcheries done, stay posted and watch this quilt develop!

Mystery Block of the Month.

I chose yellow & white as my colours for this swap, so I will end up with a cheerful quilt. This is my first block that Willgoer made for me, aren't the colours beautiful.

Hello, old friends, it's been awhile!

Hello, old friends, it's been awhile! I have been away, and busy getting my wonderful old house ready for sale. But I thought I should update my blog to let you know I haven't forgotten you all.

ANZAC Day 2009

I love ANZAC Day, the melancholy of it and the march, I have even been to the Dawn service in Canberra and attended to Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Day.

My grandfather fought over New Guinea in WWII and due to illness died when I was only 7 or 8 years old. I can remember him on one of those Bamboo sick bed in his lounge room or on the verandah at their home in Cowra, NSW.

Anyway I use to march his medals in Yass, NSW, up until I was pregnant with my oldest son.

He (my eldest) now marches these medals every year. It feels my heart with love and pride as not only does he want to march and with these medals, but each year he also asks questions about a man he never knew but who is apart of mine and his grandmothers lives and memories, and about the life these soldiers had, going blindly into war, without the knowledge and TV coverage we have day.

Missy Mack's Paper Bag Swap

I have been a little slack with this, most because I am packing up things to get ready to sell and move, Yeah :(. And I have have sinus, you know to sort where you can't look down, you feel like your head is full of rocks.

Well anyway that is my project today and tomorrow, I know roughly what I am doing so it should be fun.

I also got some fabric yesterday, to match my "Me Quilt" and I am going to make some pillowcases to match.

Have a great day everyone! Happy sewing!

Woo! Hoo! Wine O'clock!

It may still look like chaos to you, but after 5 garbage bags of rubish, and 3 hours of work. I now have a box of UFO, box of fabric, rulers all in one place and I can see my desk.

The kids on the other did not clean their side of the room thus letting to side down.

Oh now I can spend Easter long weekend sewing in peace and quiet! (well inbetween the requests for food, breaking up fights, and listening to Hubby's yet another story).

Well at least it's clean and neat and it will be a pleasure to sew in there when I get a chance to.
Now for a glass of wine and to sit back and relax........
Oh damm time to go and get dinner, can someone tell me when MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! time begins!

Oh! My goodness Friday!

Oh! My goodness Friday!

Today is good friday and I'm taking on the task of our sunroom, well at least my sewing half of it!

Wish me luck!

Paper Bag Swap - Missy Mack

Missy Mack is running a paperbag swap on her blog. I drew the lovely Gail and in previous post you can see what lovely delights I sent her.

This is what she sent me to make something, beautiful & wonderful for her.

Let the thinking begin!

Journal Swap

In the Craft Forum, we had a journal cover swap. I draw DOMAC who had not ever swapped before so I wanted to do something extra special. I naturally, with my leanings to pink, made her a pink book with a matching pen & bag.

Donna made me a folder with lots of pockets, and a book inside.

Toy Society Drop

On the 24th of March, my son had a Doctors appointment in Canberra, so that was decided to be the place of my first "http://thetoysociety.blogspot.com" drop.

My son helped me with the drop, and the excitment, and joy in his eyes when we made the drop was wonderful.

The drop was made on the 24 March at 9am, in Wakefield Ave Park, Anislie, ACT.

I hope whoever found "Hoot" gets as much joy and love from him as we did making him & doing the drop.

Missy Mack's Paper bag swap

I drew Gail for this swap, we seem to have similar tastes, so this should be fun!

Lots of girls things went into my paperbag, rose fabric, ric rac, lace, charms, lacework hearts, and threads.

Caring Heart!

The craft forum members sent me a pack of caring hearts last year when my Granfather died, not sure what to do with them, but knowing I wanted something I could use and remember my wonderful friends with, I decided to make this bag, the pockets on the inside are made of the hearts to.

Peter's 40th

Yes, he didn't have any idea, after all that worry and stress.

It was a great night catching up with people we haven't seen for a long time. The watermelon with sparklers for his birthday cake went down a treat with the kids.

The photo is of Peter and our youngest Aaron, and yes they have alfoil on there heads, the kids were playing aliens, so one of the dad's made foil anti-alien helmets for them out of foil, with glo sticks for anti-alien swords.

Monthly Charm Lotto

I won, I won, I won!

On the craft forum I won the February Monthly Charm Lotto, the theme for the month was Leaves.
I received 11 enevlopes over three days filled with fabric. The funny thing was the first enevlope to arrive was the charm squares that I entered.

I'm not sure what to do with them yet, but I'm thinking of bordering each square in one of two different fabrics, and making a large picnic blanket out of them.

Or I might change my mind and do something else, it's just fun laying them all out.

Me Quilt!

This is the "Double Irish Chain" quilt I started at my first ever quilting class.

The class wasn't that great, the women were clicky and one of the teachers thought it better to just do it for you instead of actually teaching, but the other teacher owns one of the local craft shop, and has become a friend and a wealth of information, she even got me through the paper pieced "Wild Block" for a forum swap.

This quilt I call my "Me Quilt" as it is for our bed, I am making pillow cases to match and I hope to get it bound in the next 2 weeks, before we have visitor.

Breast of Friends

This is the start of my collection for the "Breast of friends" Block of the Month through "Homespun" magazine.

There is a forum for the BOM just go to http://www.completecraft.com.au/forums_craft

And some of the girls have done the first two already, and they all look wonderful, in the different colours.

Think PINK!

In the heat of the last few weeks, I have been playing with some idea, for some little bag, pin cushions, & have filled a sketch book full of ideas & patterns. This is the start of a stitchery that I was going to make into a dolls blanket for my neice. But as I sew lots of other uses for it are coming to mind.

Stitchery Block Monthly Swap

I have finish the top for this quilt. I am yet to back & bind it but I thought I would share it with you. The top right 2 blocks are test block I made so mine ended up being 4 block by 4 blocks, as a mystery person must have sent me two blocks.

As soon as the fire ban lifts then I am burning the "squaredance" pattern, and I'll post pictures here so we can all enjoy it.

I would like to thank everyone that sent me a block, I have learnt alot about sewing, colours & stitching in doing this swap and everyones hard work show in the almost finished product, It is a quilt I will treasure forever.

Thank you

Christmas Advent Swap 2008

I would like to Thank to Deb (Shopperdeb) for making my December wonderful, the boys and I would eat breakfast every morning then sit around and open that days present and then on Christmas day I opened a beautiful Wall hanging which is now in my lounge room on the back of the piano chair.

Thanks for all the time and effort that went into this swap, Deb.
Also thank you to Lynette for organising it.

Family Christmas

This is a photo of the kids and there cousins who had a lovely time catching up together over Christmas. It's wonderful to see all the different ages playing together happily.

Happy New Year

Well I hope everyone survived the Christmas Crazy, and is ready to start the New Year refreshed.

I am on leave from work for another couple of weeks, its nice to have time at home with the boys, just doing what we like when we like. We have had a steady stream of visitors, which is hard at times but it is lovely to catch up with old friends and family.

I main problem with visitors is that I've had to cancel my visit to Voni, for shopping & coffee and cake, but I will try to sneak down very soon, I was really looking forward to it.

I hope everyone has a happy, productive and fulfilling 2009, and I look forward to hearing about what everyone is up to on the forum for the year ahead.
